Posted on Blog, UV Light March 23, 2020

There are many benefits to owning a UV light and with the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) on the come-up, it’s best to make sure your house is clean. By using UV light fixtures to scan your home for germs and bacteria, it’s the best way to rid your house of those pesky little bugs. It only takes 10 seconds for a UV light to kill bacteria from a distance, so to have the reassurance that your house is clean, wouldn’t you want to have a UV light protecting your home?

Destroys Mold

When mold is exposed to UV light for a certain amount of time, the mold’s DNA breaks up, making the exposed area ridden of mold that would rot your units over time. By keeping your units clean and safe from any mold, bacteria, or germs, it will extend the unit’s lifespan greatly.

Relieves Allergy Symptoms

Throughout life people spend a good part of it indoors, especially inside their homes. When it comes to allergy prevention indoors, one of the most important things a person can do is implement a system to reduce those allergens. It’s not easy to use human labor to prevent mold and fungi from growing in HVAC systems, but it’s easy for ultraviolet lights to do so. The UV light will eliminate all germs that pass through the ducts by passing UV lights through the systems, relieving the homeowner(s) of allergy symptoms.

Controls Microbial Growth

Microbes will grow in your units if they aren’t tended to. Ultraviolet lights are used to sterilize workspaces in the home and health care facilities, and these light beams will prohibit the microbes’ DNA replication, therefore killing them. However, since microorganisms can be shielded from ultraviolet light in cracks and shaded areas, it’s best to place the lights where they can cover the most area.

Maintains Clean Coils

To keep your coils clean, installing UV lights will greatly reduce or even kill forms of bacteria, germs, and mold in your coils. Ultraviolet lights are well-known for their cleansing properties, being able to kill bacteria and sterilize surfaces. Air conditioning systems are made up of a complex system of ducts and coils, also known as a breeding ground for mold, bacteria, and allergens. By using UV lights on your coils, it will greatly extend the time needed until maintenance is required.

Eliminates Odors

Ultraviolet light sanitizes the affected area by destroying mold, bacteria, and viruses, also destroying their ability to reproduce. If you’ve noticed a moldy odor whenever you run your air conditioning system, chances are, mold is growing inside. UV lights are extremely effective in eliminating those odors by killing off any mold or other forms of bacteria sitting around.
